Come inside this somber
House where hope erodes
It devours life within
Sullen decaying abode
You won’t find light here, it all just disappears
We walk on floors that groan with age with unseen grace
We long, oh, how we long for the taste of freedom from this place
But we pardon these walls as cruel time stalls and we accept our fate
Do you feel it? That’s permanence
Do you ever feel like this is purposeless?
Oh, we’ve grown so cold, and I just want to feel
All this time spent, it’s never been enough to heal
Withered bodies, flesh and bone
Confined inside a mass of brick and stone
Together so long, yet still alone
I cannot comprehend how distant we have grown
No more pretense, no reason to pretend
We try so hard to mend, just to tear again
If, deeper, we are forced to descend
This place will lower us till we find the end
Permanence!
Come inside this bitter
Place where warmth erodes
It devours light within
Leaving nothing but the cold
And we just want to get out
Our bleeding finger tips still
Claw at the walls
And we just want to be
Anywhere else
Bitter permanence
All I ask is that you hold on
The light will come, it won’t be long

I saw ages pass into an endless void of mass; all this will change
Altered states of consciousness, so strange
When I looked out, it took my breath away
I’ve seen such sights you’ll never see
I know these things you won’t believe
This carnal realm that we perceive
Is but a veil, we all have been deceived
Like oceans flowing
Like air we breathe
This is mine alone, a truth I can’t disown, I’ve found no
Purpose and no place, yet here I will remain, restrained
I’ve witnessed this time and again, yet cannot fully comprehend a thing
Lost track of the days I’ve spent in the chasm’s embrace, condemned
All I knew erased, I saw the death of time and space – I saw the end
Drift here for centuries, bleed into eternity
Just breathe
This awareness that I’ve gained, I should not have
I’ve seen eons pass, countless as grains of sand
I know what awaits this world a er the fall of man
Everything that ever was or ever will be, I have now seen
Consciousness of all, it fills me, subject to its cruel command
I now am

With weary arms and ruined hands, we do what must be done
A testament to the will of man, our shrines eclipse the sun
Oh, won’t you come?
This all will outlast us
What we have built in our lives
Massive structures of complex design
Monuments to help us live for all time
Vast, bizarre constructions, our growth can’t be contained
Free from trivial obstructions, progress goes unrestrained
Earth is maimed
This all will outlast us
What we have built in our lives
Massive structures of complex design
Monuments to help us live for all time
Does this all unnerve you?
Do you dread what we have made?
The world we’ve built doesn’t deserve you, and I know you’re afraid
That’s okay
This all will outlast us
What we have built in our lives
Contorted networks of steel, intertwined
By these creations, we will be defined

Swamp Mountain

Bow down!
Men, of frail constitution, tremble in its mighty presence
The peak so high, piercing the sky, reaching up toward the heavens
Our mountain, dark green, vast and unclean, has devoured countless human peasants
Fall!
Below the thick depths, they ran out of breath
The air exhausted from their human lungs, a grave of
Myriad bones that linger deep down below
A dreadful fate for the unfortunate ones
Who dare to violate our land with weapons in hand
But first we gouge out their eyes and remove their tongues
This green massif will be your end
You will find your death on the mountainside
You’ll grow weaker as you slowly ascend
No solace will this adverse landscape provide
What a cruel fate to which you’ve been condemned
You will beg for relief, and you will be denied
No one hears you
No one’s near
Face the end, you can’t persevere
You will die alone upon this green frontier
Bow down!
Submit to the elements
Your human form, so delicate
We’ll watch from afar as your body fails
Against the fabled Swamp Mountain, only few have prevailed
But should you best the mountainside, you’ll find no reward, nor
Prize, nor respite at the mountain’s peak, that’s just the place where you’ll
Meet your defeat, where you will go down
In the dark depths, you will slowly drown
Goddamn!
Swamp Mountain!
